With the arrival of the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 (née Scion FR-S), the Hyundai Genesis Coupe was doomed to a life in the shadows. Now, the Genesis Coupe is dead as Hyundai focuses on bringing more luxury cars to the market, but it shouldn't be forgotten. In fact, it's a sports-car bargain.

In this new video review, The Smoking Tire's Matt Farah helped us remember why the Genesis Coupe is well worth a second look. In 2.0T form, the Genesis Coupe offers 280 horsepower from its Mitsubishi Lancer Evo-derived four-cylinder, and a six-speed manual standard. Couple that drivetrain with a playful rear-wheel drive chassis and you've got a viable alternative to the Toyobaru twins that's ready for modification.

A quick Autotrader search shows that the average price for a 2013-2016 Genesis Coupe 2.0T is just under $17,000, but there are plenty of examples selling for less. If you've ever complained about the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ's lack of a turbocharger, this could be the right car for you.
