This Is Jaguar's Most Powerful Production Car Ever
Jaguar-Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations came right out of the gate with a bang with Project 7, a 575-horsepower lightweight F-Type with no roof. But what's better than 7? In this case, it's this: Project 8, the latest madcap SVO experiment, with more horsepower and more doors than Project 7.
This time, SVO started with the Jaguar XE, the smallest four-door in the British company's lineup. Out goes the 340-horsepower supercharged 3.0-liter V6; in goes a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, making 590 horses in this application. And making the XE SV Project 8 the most powerful production Jaguar ever.
That's right: Production. Jaguar plans to build 300 examples of the gnarly super-sedan, with the full unveiling scheduled for June 28th. Until then, enjoy a prototype (wearing SVO-badge camouflage) rip-snorting its way around the Nurburgring.
One thing is for sure: Jaguar seems to be leading the way on loud, V8-powered scream machines at the moment.
