Jaguar F-Pace Sets A New Record For Biggest Loop-The-Loop

You will never need to know how many G-forces you can sustain behind the wheel or whether your compact luxury SUV can win world records — but that didn’t stop Jaguar from pulling an epic loop-the-loop stunt Monday evening.

In a display ahead of the Frankfurt motor show, Jaguar marked the unveiling of its F-Pace SUV by having stunt driver Terry Grant attempt the tallest loop-the-loop to date — 19.08 meters, or 62.6 feet tall. That’s a full 20 feet higher than the previous record set by a Chinese driver last year.

Pulling off the lifesize Hot Wheels maneuver requires a precise combination of driving talents and engineering; if the vehicle’s speed isn’t exactly right, and the acceleration not timed properly, the car will stop and plunge. Grant practiced for two months before the stunt, and prepared to feel a force of 6.5 G’s, more than what most astronauts experience at launch.

You can watch the stunt below, and we await the next attempt with an even less-likely model. Wonder if the track could hold a Bentley?
