A Jaguar F-Type R Is Fast, But a Porsche 911 Turbo S Leaves it for Dead

From Road & Track

The Jaguar F-Type R, with its 550-horse V8 and grippy all-wheel-drive, is not a slow car by any stretch of the imagination. Unfortunately, in this drag race, the car it's up against bends the laws of physics to its will. Bow down to the current sports car holeshot king, the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Okay, it's not all that surprising that the lighter, more powerful 911 Turbo S wins–unlike the BMW M2/Mustang GT matchup EVO recently performed–but it's amazing to see just how decisively it leaves the F-Type for dead. The F-Type hits 60 in 3.5 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 11.7, but the Turbo S hits 60 in 2.6 and runs the quarter-mile in 10.5.

The most shocking number, though, is the 911's 0-100 mph sprint, which takes just 6.0 seconds. Try to wrap your head around that number.

Perhaps this pairing isn't fair to the Jag, since it's much cheaper than a Turbo S, and its power to weight ratio puts it much closer to the 911 Carrera 4S. Still, it's a wonderful illustration of the Turbo S's brutal efficiency.
