Japan's R34 Skyline GT-R Cop Car Is Real and Spectacular

From Road & Track

American police cars tend to be boring. Very boring. Occasionally a department will have something fast, like a Camaro, as an interceptor, but it's not the sort of car that you wish you owned.

Things are different in Japan. While the regular police fleet uses the Toyota Crown, which you can think of as their version of the Crown Victoria (they share the Crown part), the interceptors are what's really interesting. See, they use fast cars to chase people down. Cars like RX7s and NSXs. Cool cars.

One that we'd always seen photos of but had never seen in action was an R34 Skyline GT-R. It seemed more like it lived in legend than in real life, sightings are rare, with just a few pictures existing.

Well, apparently there is still one in service since it was just spotted on the highway with lights on and everything. That means it likely wasn't a replica, since Japanese police would probably not take too kindly to someone driving around pretending to be a cop. What a cool sight.
