Jay Leno Waited 29 Years To Drive A Ferrari F40

From Road & Track

While seeing a Ferrari F50 is always an event worth noting in your diary, people still get much more excited about the F40, a car that's almost common by Ferrari halo car standards. Maybe it's the looks, maybe it's the first 200mph road car's historical significance, or maybe it's just the sound of that violently twin-turbocharged 2.9 V8.

What's for sure is that a few years ago, these supercars cost you half a million dollars, while today, feel free to triple that figure if you want a nice example. Jeweler David Lee has an expensive taste in Ferraris with an extensive collection (just look at his Instagram). What's interesting is that despite starting his collecting somewhere around 1990, Jay Leno hasn't driven an F40 until just now. And while the Ferrari itself isn't 66-Leno is-which means he's been waiting his entire life to drive something like this.

Pirelli developed a new (and very fat) tire to handle the F40's 'linear' power delivery. Because that's all you had. Some grippy rubber. No traction control, no ABS, no ceramic brakes. A gated manual and almost 500 horsepower attacking the rear wheels. It doesn't get much more exciting than that.
