Jeep CEO Confirms Gladiator 4xe Is ComingStellantis
  • Jeep’s CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed on a LinkedIn post that Jeep will offer a Gladiator 4xe.

  • Filosa says that the Gladiator 4xe will join the lineup next year.

  • The Gladiator will also now be available in Tuscadero pink.

If you love your Wrangler 4xe but want something with a pickup bed, well Jeep is finally answering the call. According to a LinkedIn post by the brand’s CEO, Jeep will roll out a Gladiator 4xe as early as next year.

Of course, the decision to expand the 4xe powertrain’s availability to the Gladiator was probably not hard to make. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe sits atop plug-in hybrid sales charts, and adding a variant to the Gladiator should help boost the pickup’s sales figures.

The 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain features a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 that works with 134-hp’s worth of electric motor in the transmission and a 44-hp electric motor on the engine’s eTorque system. Feeding the electric motor system is a 17.3 kWh battery. In Wrangler trim, this is good for 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque total.

The Gladiator 4xe will likely use a similar, if not the identical, powertrain as the Wrangler. The pricing, too, will probably be similar. Today, a Wrangler Sport S with Pentastar power will set you back $41,990. The Wrangler 4xe equivalent costs $49,590. So you can expect the Gladiator 4xe to see a similar price bump, and start around $50,000.
