Jeep to Reveal Two Individual 2017 Renegade Models at L.A. Auto Show
Next week, Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s Jeep brand will introduce two new trim levels of the 2017 Renegade SUV at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. One is the Deserthawk limited edition that launches in January with a suggested retail price of $28,140. The second is the “blacked-out” Altitude variant, which will reach dealer showrooms later this month with a list price of $22,390.
The 2017 Deserthawk Renegade is inspired by a desert theme that highlights off-road functionality and a desert-look outside and inside. The small SUV that is built on the same platform as the Fiat 500 rides on 17-in. black wheels and includes exclusive hood and rear body panel decals, rock rails, and a trailer tow package. Inside, the limited-edition SUV model features black leather seats, Light Frost-colored stitching and accents, all-weather floor mats, and a cargo tray mat.
Off-road worthy, the Renegade Deserthawk is a 4x4 with standard crawl and rock-climbing capability. It has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, skid plates, red front and rear tow hooks, hill-descent control, and can ford streams with depths up to 19 inches, according to the automaker. Towing capacity is 2,000 lbs. for the special desert SUV that is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. A rear backup camera and 7-in. color cluster display are standard.
The 2017 Jeep Renegade Altitude, which is based on the Renegade Latitude variant, features a distinct aggressive flair, according to Jeep. It rides on 18-in. gloss black wheels and features gloss black accents on front and rear badging, grille rings, and tail lamp rings. The interior carries out the blacked-out theme with all-black premium cloth seats and high-gloss black finishes. The shift knob and door handles include Metal Diamond accents.
