Somebody at Audi Sport didn't get the memo that James Glickenhaus doesn't just own a race team, but he owns a team with a fleet of engineers capable of building their own cars from the ground up.

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus finished the Nürburgring 24 with the Ferrari-based P 4/5 Competizione and its hybrid evolution twice before designing and manufacturing their own unique sports car, the SCG 003, for the 24 hour classic.

The team is also busy working on a street version of the race car that will debut at Geneva in March, as well as their very own customer racing program and Apollo's next generation sports car. It's a busy place.

Still, an ill-informed Audi Sport salesman seems to be hopeful about Glickenhaus running an R8 LMS in 2017:

Glickenhaus kept his answer short:

"We wish you the best of luck and are looking forward to beating you at many races with our SCG 003 C. Should any of your customers wish to race with us in an SCG 003C do let me know.

Best, Jim"

Mind you, due to its ultra low production numbers, the SCG 003C is not an official GT3 car despite it being built to the FIA specifications, while the R8 LMS is fully homologated by Audi. So while Audi's intention may have been to extend Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus into GT3 racing with an R8 LMS, Glickenhaus made it clear that if he does add to his program, it'll be with a car of his own design.
