Things I did not expect to learn while hosting my first live podcast event at the Road America IndyCar race:

The defending series champion has signed a baby (but, to Josef Newgarden’s credit, he knows to gain permission up front before breaking out the Sharpie).

The defending Indy 500 winner has the attention span of a cat on Ritalin (actually, I already knew that about Will Power).

A man, whose name we do not know, walks this earth with 2004 IndyCar champion/2013 Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan’s autograph tattooed on his back.

These, and other revelations, including a transformative tale of Ayrton Senna and the day he saved Kanaan’s career, plus insights from Chip Ganassi Racing’s Mike Hull, were part of the show last weekend as 75-80 fans turned up Saturday evening in Wisconsin to laugh and learn with our guests.

And if signing a baby sounds like the strangest encounter Newgarden had to offer, it was actually No. 2 on his list…
