Lego on Thursday revealed a new range of motorsport-inspired products that are sure to get racing fans excited.
Included in the new launch are two Speed Champions sets created in collaboration with partners at McLaren Racing and BMW, two Lego Technic cars from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team, one Lego Icons car from McLaren and the Senna brand as well as two new racing-inspired cars from Lego City.
All these sets are incredible but perhaps the most anticipated will be the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 developed with McLaren Racing and the Senna brand. This Icons model will feature working steering, rod suspension, an adjustable rear wing, slick tires, mirrors, a gearshift, a detailed turbocharged V-6 engine, and a display stand for the car. It even comes with an Ayrton Senna minifigure. The set will have 693 total pieces, will be 12.5 inches long, and have a suggested retail price of $79.99. It is available for pre-order today.
The Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance will be offered in two different versions under the Technic line. The first is a pull-back version for younger kids. This model has 240 pieces, is 9.5 inches long, and will retail for $26.99. For the adults looking for something more realistic, there will be a 1:8 scale model with authentic livery details, a V-6 engine with moving pistons, an opening wing, individual suspension, functioning steering, and slick tires. This is the most intricate model of the new collection with 1,642 total pieces. It is 25 inches long and comes in at $219.99.
Lego is also offering several Speed Champions models for kids ages nine and up. There is the 2023 McLaren Formula 1 race car with its iconic black-and-papaya livery. Joining it are the BMW M4 GT3 and BMW M Hybrid V-8 race cars which include minifigure drivers. The McLaren has 245 pieces, is 7 inches long, and will retail for $26.99. The two BMWs will be $44.99, and each will come with 676 pieces.
For the youngest racing fans, there are two new racing-inspired Lego City sets. These are designed for kids ages 4 and up. There is a new City Green Race Car including driver and photographer, sporty tires, and a rear spoiler. There is also a new City Race Car and Car Carrier Truck which has a race car with lowered suspension and flared fenders. The transporter has a loading ramp and two minifigure drivers. The City Green Race Car comes with 56 pieces, is 4.5 inches long, and has a retail price of $9.99. The Race Car and Car Carrier set has 328 pieces, is 6.5 inches long, and will cost $29.99.
The sets will launch on March 1.
