Karma Revero: Here It Is, and No, It's Not a Fisker Anymore

From Road & Track

The Fisker Karma is back! Well, kind of. The car pictured above is the "new" Revero, the first car from Karma Automotive, a company created by China's Wanxiang Group after it bought Fisker in a 2014 bankruptcy auction. Despite its new name, the Revero is a lightly-refreshed version of the Fisker Karma that first went on sale in 2011.

Karma Automotive released the first official video and pictures of the Revero on its website Thursday. The only mechanical updates Karma highlighted are that the Revero will have an improved solar roof, a new infotainment system, and hand-painted badges.

We've previously reported that the Revero won't otherwise be significantly different from the original Fisker. Karma's chief engineer, Kip Ewing–who left the Ford GT project to join Karma–confirmed as much in a recent interview.

Karma makes a big deal of the new solar panel, calling the Revero "the first model sold in the U.S. with a solar roof that will power the vehicle." Current Fisker Karma owners can reserve a new Revero now, with reservations opening to the general public on September 8.

The Revero will be built in a new factory in Southern California, unlike the original Fisker, which was built in Finland. Production goals have yet to be announced, but we expect the Revero to be built in limited numbers.

Considering the original Fisker Karma was plagued with reliability issues, hopefully Karma Automotive has worked out the bugs for the Revero.
