Did you know that astronauts have driven on the Moon? During the Apollo 15, 16, and 17 missions, NASA’s space crews piloted their lunar roving vehicle (LRV) across the Moon’s cratered terrain, carrying tools and scientific equipment to collect lunar samples. The four-wheeled, battery-powered car was built by a group of engineers who were part of General Motors Corporation, an automotive manufacturer best known for building a variety of road cars that we see today...including the Corvette!

With this simple DIY craft, you’ll use your imagination to explore your everyday surroundings through the lens of an astronaut. Head outside to examine the landscape and start your collection of smooth stone specimens, as if you’re traveling over unfamiliar terrain in your own LRV. After you’ve gathered enough stones, return to "base camp" to turn them into colorful souvenirs to bring back for your family and friends on Planet Earth.

Total time: 30-45 minutes

Instructions:
1. Prepare your palette of paint on a paper plate and make sure to have a glass of water nearby, so you can easily clean your brushes in between colors.
