Yahoo Autos Koenigsegg Jesko Owners Advised to Halt Driving After Fire Incident in Greece

Owners of the $3 million Koenigsegg Jesko supercar have been advised to park their vehicles immediately following a concerning incident over the weekend. The Swedish automaker has issued a Do-No-Drive Order (DNDO) to all Jesko owners after one of the vehicles caught fire in Greece, prompting an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
The incident occurred near the city of Marousi on Saturday morning. Video footage shared online shows the Jesko engulfed in flames on the side of the road, with the vehicle participating in the Six2Six Europe Tour supercar rally at the time. Conflicting reports suggest that the car was either traveling at slow speeds or being driven aggressively when the fire started. Fortunately, the driver and passenger escaped without injury, but the car suffered extensive damage, leaving only the tires recognizable after emergency crews extinguished the fire.
In response to the fire, Koenigsegg sent an email to Jesko owners, informing them of the incident and requesting that they refrain from driving their vehicles until further notice. The email, as reported by Egg Registry, reads: "Out of an abundance of caution, we ask all Jesko owners and drivers to hold off on driving their cars until we have had a chance to understand the situation better." Koenigsegg has not yet commented publicly on the incident.
The owner of the affected Jesko, an unidentified Spaniard, had only recently taken delivery of the bespoke Jesko NÜR Edition, which features an exposed carbon-fiber finish adding $443,400 to its price. The owner had driven the car for just 100 miles before the unfortunate incident. The Jesko, powered by a rear-mid-mounted twin-turbocharged V-8 engine producing 1,280 hp, is one of only 28 examples built to date, with a total production run planned for just 125 units.
Koenigsegg's swift action to investigate the cause of the fire highlights the company's commitment to safety and customer care. As the investigation continues, Jesko owners worldwide are left in limbo, eagerly awaiting news on when they can safely enjoy their prized hypercars again.
