Lamborghini has created a lot of limited-run special models in recent years-what the brand calls "few-offs." The Reventón, Veneno, Sesto Elemento, and Centenario were all produced in runs of 20 units or less (if you count coupes and roadsters separately). Lambo has even built a few customer-commissioned one-offs, like the Aventador J. For its latest one-off creation, Lamborghini handed the reins to its Squadra Corse racing division, and the result is this: the SC18 Alston.

Don't think that the Squadra Corse just slapped its name on a lightly modified Aventador without actually doing any engineering. The SC18 was developed by Squadra Corse with the explicit goal to be as fast as possible around a track, with the customer working closely with the racing team during the process. All of the SC18's aerodynamics are specifically for it, with the knowledge from race cars like the Huracán GT3 and Super Trofeo models put to good use. Yes, it's fairly obvious that an Aventador was used as the basis for the SC18, but the more you look, the more differences you see. Every body panel is completely new, from the aggressive front bumper and scooped hood to the sculpted doors and larger side intakes to the insane rear end and its massive carbon-fiber rear wing with a central fin and attached roof scoop. And everything is functional; for instance, the 12 air intakes on the engine cover improve cooling of the V-12, and it's a setup already tested on the race cars.

Speaking of that V-12, it's the same unit from the Aventador SVJ, which makes 759 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a seven-speed automated manual transmission and all-wheel drive. Lambo says that the weight of the SC18 has been reduced-although it doesn't say how much-thanks to the carbon-fiber body and the use of ultralight materials. Two large triangular exhaust tips at the back apparently emit a "unique sound," although we can't imagine how much more unique the 6.5-liter V-12 could get.

The car is finished in Grigio Daytona paint with red accents all over the body, and the interior (of which no photos have been released) has carbon-fiber bucket seats covered in black Alcantara with red stitching. The center-lock wheels, sized 20 inches in the front and 21 inches in the rear, wear Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires specially developed for this model.

Lamborghini didn't mention the significance behind the SC18's name-we can only assume that Alston might be the lucky customer's name. According to Lamborghini, the SC18 "paves the way to further personalized development projects" from Squadra Corse. We say bring them on.
