In a nod to automotive history intertwined with modern innovation, a 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is poised to capture the attention of car enthusiasts and collectors at an upcoming RM Sotheby’s auction in Monaco. This nearly pristine example of Lamborghini's hybrid homage to its most emblematic model could fetch between $2 million and $2.5 million, offering buyers a rare opportunity to own a piece of the brand's storied legacy.
Unveiled in the summer of 2021, the Countach LPI 800-4 marked Lamborghini's ambitious venture to reincarnate its classic wedge-shaped supercar as a limited-edition hybrid, boasting a price tag of $2.64 million. Despite mixed reactions from the automotive community, with some criticizing it as an overhyped reimagining of the Aventador, the allure of the Countach's revival was undeniable. All 112 units of the modern Countach were claimed within a week of its announcement, underscoring its enduring appeal.
The vehicle set to grace the auction block in Monaco stands out as one of only five produced in the distinctive Luci del Bosco color, a metallic brown that harkens back to the 1970s and accentuates the supercar's striking design and aerodynamics. This particular model is further distinguished by its gold wheels and an elegant Bianco Leda interior, adorned with Nero Ade accents and bronze stitching, creating a sophisticated aesthetic that complements its exterior.
Powered by the same hybrid powertrain found in the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, the Countach LPI 800-4 integrates a 6.5-liter V-12 engine with a 48-volt electric motor, unleashing over 800 horsepower. This potent combination enables the supercar to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 2.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 221 mph.
