Lamborghini May Be Developing a Porsche Mission E-Based Electric Supercar

From Road & Track

For years, Lamborghini has been committed to building naturally aspirated engines. The upcoming Urus SUV will get a turbocharged V8, but the Italian automaker believes large-displacement, naturally aspirated engines are still part of its identity. If the latest report is to be believed, though, Lamborghini will soon offer a car that doesn't even have an engine.

Germany's AutoBild recently posted the video below, which claims an electric Lamborghini is in the works. Supposedly, this car is called the Vitola and will borrow parts from the Porsche Mission E. The automaker has also reportedly set a goal of the Vitola hitting 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and having a top speed of at least 186 mph. AutoBild also created the rendering shown above.

Electrification is inevitable in the auto industry, so it's safe to assume Lamborghini will eventually build an electric supercar. But considering how small a company Lamborghini is, it's hard to imagine it doing so any time soon.

Even if it borrows parts from Porsche, an electric supercar would be a huge undertaking for Lamborghini. Bringing the Urus to production has been difficult enough as it is, and we're not sure the resources exist to actively develop a fourth car.

Because of that, we're taking this report with a huge grain of salt.
