What It's Like to Lap Le Mans in an 800-hp Aston Martin Vulcan

From Road & Track

When it comes to track-only sports cars, few are more impressive or exclusive than the Aston Martin Vulcan.

Thanks to its carbon fiber and aluminum construction, it weighs less than 3000 pounds. And under the hood, there's a 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 that makes 800 horsepower. Paired with rear-wheel drive and a wing large enough to use as a picnic table, that's a recipe for one seriously quick car.

But not just anyone can buy a Vulcan. Only 24 are slated for production, and they each carry a price tag of $2.3 million. And even if you have the money, you had to be invited by Aston Martin to buy one new. On the used market, they're already carrying at least a $1 million premium.

Considering how rare and expensive the Vulcan is, not many people will ever get the chance to drive one. But you can live out that fantasy a little bit by watching the onboard footage from this lap of Le Mans.

Oh, and did we mention the sound of that naturally aspirated V12? You get to listen to that, too. And it sounds fantastic.
