Yahoo Autos Let the Glorious Sounds of This Classic Ferrari F1 Car Fill Your Earholes
Remember when Formula 1 cars sounded truly magnificent? It seems like not too long ago, F1 cars were touted as the best-sounding vehicles on the planet. Nowadays, they're equipped with tiny, turbocharged V6s with a muted howl that doesn't come close to matching the racing sounds we all love. Thankfully, Ferrari is nice enough to maintain a fleet of historic F1 cars, and brought out this 1970 312B to show us what an F1 car should really sound like.
The 312B was the successor to the 312, which raced from 1966-1969. While the 312 had to make due with a conventional V12 layout, the 312B was equipped with a brand new three-liter flat-12 engine. It was more aerodynamically efficient, had a lower center of gravity, and was much lighter. Drivers like Jacky Ickx, Niki Lauda, and Mario Andretti all sat behind the wheel of the legendary 312B racer, and while the car didn't take home any championships, it earned ten Grand Prix wins altogether.
Although cars like these will never see true competition again, it's amazing to see it turning hot laps on track again. Turn up the volume for this one.
