Five-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton and seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi will be swapping seats on December 9, according to Motorsports.com.

The swap, reportedly made possible by Monster Energy (a major sponsor for both drivers' respective teams), is said to be taking place at Valencia shorty after the Formula 1 season finale in Abu Dhabi.

According to Motorsport.com, this event will be Hamilton's first on a real MotoGP bike, though he's spent a fair bit of time on track with motorcycles in the past. He even spent a day on a Yamaha YZF-R1 at Jerez last year.

Rossi has had some open-wheeler experience, going as far as to test for Scuderia Ferrari on multiple occasions. He's also planning to race a 488 GT3 car at the Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina on December 14.

This swap has been rumored for several years now, so hearing that it might actually take place sometime soon is great news for fans of both sports. Stay tuned.
