Remember how excited we were when Alpine finally unveiled the new A110 sports car? It's the brand's return to the fantastic proportions and ethos of the original A110, but with a new mid-engine layout and some serious performance capabilities. The car is all we could wish for - and a total heartbreaker, since it won't be coming to the US. Now, we have even more heartbreaking news: the new A110 sounds really good.

The new Alpine is powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 250 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch automatic transmission. At just 2432 pounds, we have no doubt the A110 is quick, but thanks to this video, we now learn what a lovely sound it makes.

French YouTube channel Alpine Planet was invited by Alpine to ride along in a new A110 to experience what the car is like. For your viewing enjoyment, here are 16 minutes of ride-along footage full of engine noise, which you can watch right here.

If that doesn't make you want to drive this car, nothing will. How expensive is it to move to France?
