The first-gen Aston Martin V8 Vantage may be over a decade old, but somehow it keeps impressing us. This time around the car is suited up as an FIA-classed rally car, and man, it sounds downright amazing.

This V8 Vantage was transformed into an R-GT class World Rally Championship car back in 2015 by Finnish race firm Mäkelä Auto Tuning. We haven't seen much on-screen action of the car since the build reveal - until now, of course.

This video, uploaded to YouTube by Checkpoint Rallye, shows the car going flat-out through some unnamed European mountain roads at the hands of French driver François Delecour during some test runs, and it seems he's not holding anything back.

Even though that V8 is underpowered by modern standards, there's no ignoring that glorious engine note, especially when it's unmuffled like this. Plus, judging by the speed going through some of these turns, we're confident that Vantage has more than enough shove for those tarmac rally tires to handle.

Update 11/27/2017: Another video of the R-GT Vantage just popped up on Checkpoint Rallye's YouTube channel, and somehow, it's even better to listen to than the original. Watch (and listen) right here.
