All The Little Changes Subaru Made to the Updated 2017 BRZ

From Road & Track

It's no secret the Subaru BRZ is a great car. It's a light, cheap, rear-wheel-drive coupe with a manual transmission and good looks. What more could you want from an affordable sports car? Well Subaru gave the refreshed BRZ a few tweaks for the 2017 model year, and they make everyone's favorite mass-market coupe even better.

Though the updated BRZ looks pretty much the same from its previous-year counterpart, there are a host of tiny differences that make the new car a bit better to drive. For manual-transmission cars, the BRZ gets an aluminum intake manifold, along with revised cylinder heads, valves, and camshafts. This results in an overall power output of 205 horsepower and 156 lb.-ft. of torque, five more horsepower and lb.-ft. than the previous car.

The final drive ratio has been shortened from 4.1 to 4.3, making the BRZ quicker off the line. Additionally, the chassis has been reinforced, suspension has been tweaked, and the sway bars have been beefed up.
