Acura will make its return to endurance racing with three nods to its past.

The newly revealed liveries for its twin-turbo V6 NSXs use flashes of orange to honor the various Integras, NSXs and IMSA prototypes that raced throughout the Eighties and Nineties, and the numbers for both cars also carry significance.

The No. 86 NSX, chosen to celebrate Acura's launch as Honda's upscale brand in 1986, will make its racing debut at the Jan. 28-29 Rolex 24 at Daytona with Ryan Hunter-Reay, Ozz Negri, Jeff Segal and Tom Dyer behind the wheel of the mostly black machine.

The sister No. 93, chosen in reference to the launch of Honda Performance Development in 1993, will carry Graham Rahal, Andy Lally, Katherine Legge and Mark Wilkins into battle at the Rolex 24.

"The debut of the Acura NSX GT3 at the prestigious Rolex 24 will mark the return of the Acura brand to IMSA sports car competition," HPD and Acura Motorsports president Art St. Cyr said. "We've aimed to race the NSX in North America since the car was just a sketch on paper, and we couldn't more excited than to debut at Daytona."

Led by Shank's Ohio-based team, the NSXs recently completed their first public test at Daytona and will return for another Jan. 6-8 for the Roar Before the 24.
