Yahoo Autos The Lotus Emeya Will Be the Brand's EV Supersedan
Following the North American debut of the Eletre SUV at Pebble Beach, Lotus is gearing up to show off yet another electric offering. Officially slated to arrive on September 7, the all-new Lotus Emeya has its sights squarely aimed at the popular electric sedan segment.
As is the case with many of these teaser trailers, Lotus hasn’t really divulged much information about the upcoming Emeya quite yet. The car itself remains largely hidden by the dark sky, sans for a few momentary highlights. The front lighting elements are the most prominently featured item. The dual stack of LEDs looks like an evolution of the single strip setup found on Eletre, and will perhaps become a part of the Lotus EV design language moving forward. The rear end also features a new LED bar that runs the width of the car, similar to what you see on the Taycan itself.
While most of the bodywork remains shrouded throughout the clip, Lotus did go through the trouble to highlight a few key features. A splash of light allows us to see that the Emeya will pack a set of carbon ceramic brakes, as well as some active aero elements out back. The teaser makes sure to let us know that Emeya is targeted as a genuine drivers car, a tall order for a big-power EV. We don’t get to see any interior images, but spy photos captured last year suggest some serious Eletre influence is inbound. Expect a large central infotainment setup, as well as a driver-centric digital gauge cluster.
When the Lotus Emeya arrives next week, we should get a much better idea of how it stacks up against the increasingly crowded electric sport sedan segment. With competition like the Tesla Model S, Lucid Air and Porsche Taycan to contend with, Hethel has its work cut out for it. That said, we don't expect to see Emeyas in customer hands before late 2024.
