Yahoo Autos The Lotus Evora Sport 410 GP Brings Back The John Player Special Livery
From 1972 to 1986, Team Lotus was sponsored by tobacco company John Player & Sons, and all of its F1 cars wore a distinctive black and gold livery. During that time, the team won five driver's and constructor's championships and changed the way F1 cars were designed in the process. Lotus Exclusive, the automaker's in-house customization department is paying tribute to those cars with this, the Evora Sport 410 GP Edition.
You could say this is just an Evora Sport 410 with some fancy paint, but for Lotus geeks it's like catnip. There's gold pin-striping around the bodywork to match the JPS race cars, gold accents on the wheels, and a painted badge on the C-pillar that notes Team Lotus' 13 driver's and constructor's championship wins.
This isn't the first time Lotus has painted a road car black and gold, however. There was the S2 Esprit JPS that was built in tribute to Mario Andretti's 1978 world title, and the Elise Type 72D, built in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of Emerson Fittipaldi's 1972 championship.
Lotus Exclusive created the GP Edition not just to commemorate its F1 glory days, but also to celebrate the Evora Sport 410's upcoming US launch. The company is only building five GP Editions, each with a starting price of $110,000. That's $5800 more than the regular Sport 410's $104,200 base price, but we think it's worth it.
Other than painting your Evora green and yellow like Jim Clark's Lotus 49, we can't think of a better way to dress up this car.
