Lucid Motors, the startup electric car company formerly known as Atieva, has finally unveiled its long-awaited sedan: the Air. It's an all-wheel-drive, battery-powered four-door with a claimed 1000 horsepower, and it's gunning for the Tesla Model S.

The Air was introduced yesterday to journalists at a Lucid Motors event in Silicon Valley. Like the P100D, it has motors at the front and rear axles. Lucid claims it can get from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds-which, perplexingly, is still a tenth slower than the P100D, even with 238 more ponies.

Buyers will have a choice between a100 kWh or 130 kWh battery pack, the larger of which Lucid says can achieve a range of up to 400 miles on a charge. That's 75 more miles than the top-spec Tesla. The Air will cost around $160,000 when it first launches.

The car features some semi-self-driving capabilities, touchscreens, and a panoramic glass roof, along with very comfy-looking rear seating. The Air, however, is still a concept car, meaning we could see some changes if it reaches production.

Lucid says it's already taken orders for 250 vehicles, which will be delivered sometime in 2018. If the production car is anything like its Metris van mule, we might have an actual Tesla fighter on our hands.
