Lucid Air Pricing Slashed by Up to $12,400Lucid

Lucid Motors announced a massive price drop on its lineup of all-electric Air sedans on Saturday, with savings as high as $12,400 available for buyers. The adjusted pricing model and accompanying lease deals come as the automaker aims to keep its luxury EV competitive in an ever-growing segment.

The Lucid Air is one of the more impressive Tesla Model S competitors to arrive in recent years. That might have something to do with Lucid’s unique ties to the EV giant, with several executives and senior engineers having previously worked at Tesla. Lucid’s desire to compete with the established segment leader is clear, but the brand’s vehicles have remained a bit pricey since launch. That has officially changed however, with three Air trim levels receiving lower prices moving forward.

That adjustment starts with the entry-level Lucid Air Pure, which now starts at just $82,400, according to Reuters. That MSRP is $5000 cheaper than before, and $6050 less than the base-level Tesla Model S Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive. Both the Lucid Air Touring and Grand Touring models also see huge price cuts, each receiving a reduction of $12,400. The Air Touring sees its price slip under the six-figure mark, down from $107,400 to just $95,000. The Grand Touring now costs $125,600, down from a figure of $138,000. There’s no word yet as to whether the high-performance Lucid Air Sapphire will see any price adjustments when it arrives later this year.

Unfortunately, these prices won’t last forever. Lucid has stated that this pricing adjustment will only remain in place while supplies of the electric sedan last, but has not given any indication as to what those stock figures look like. That said, customers also have the option to take advantage of some pretty impressive lease deals until the end of August. Lucid will offer qualified lessees the chance to take home an Air Pure for as low as $749 per month, a Touring for $1149 per month, or a Grand Touring model for $1399 per month. All lease deals follow a 36-month structure.

Automakers have had a hard time setting consistent pricing models during this early EV era. Both Ford and Tesla seem to pop up in the news every week with new prices for their electric products, so it isn’t shocking to see Lucid follow suit. Whether or not the cuts are strong enough to drive interest away from the long-running Model S will have to be seen.
