Yahoo Autos The McLaren 675LT Is Almost as Fast on Track as a P1
When I drove the McLaren 570GT in Tenerife, I also got to spend an hour in the already sold-out 675LT Spider on an empty, but equally unknown Spanish road. My mind said I should take it easy, since I knew I can't afford a single wheel on it, yet my fingers switched off the traction control just moments after I started up its 666-hp engine and turned all two dials into race mode. It was the car making me do that with its demonic powers, but it definitely turned out to be an hour to remember.
It's difficult to sum up the 675LT in one word, but if I had choose, it would be savage. The way it dances on the borderline of physics all day long is unreal fun.
McLaren will tell you that the track-ready 675LT is 60% new and 220 pounds lighter compared to a 650S. The LT also comes with a wider track, way more downforce all around, a lower ride hight, stiffer springs, thinner windows, titanium accessories and the stickiest tires Pirelli makes.
What McLaren can't tell you officially is that the 657LT is probably more entertaining to drive than a P1, and nearly as quick. As Evo finds out, the LT, with its ultra-sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tires, will go around Anglesey Circuit in the UK just 1.6 seconds slower than a P1 fit with P Zero Corsas. That's quite something.
