From Road & Track

Nowadays, established supercar brands, motorsport specialists and ambitious startups all compete to create the most extreme track-only toy. A product that doesn't need to to be road legal, nor follow FIA regulations. The resulting cars will always have huge wings and even bigger price tags, knowing that more than a million is where this game starts for those select customers willing to pay for the thrill.

Then, there's the McLaren Senna.

This means that Brabham is entering a very busy scene with its new BT62, but the team with 35 Formula 1 Grands Prix wins and four World Championships in its bag made sure not to come empty-handed.

The Brabham BT62 is a mid-engined, rear-wheel drive track special with a rear-mounted race-spec transmission. With a dry weight of 2142 lbs. (972 kg), it has a power-to-weight ratio of 730ps per ton. That's because Brabham's mysterious 5.4 liter V8 produces 700 horsepower, as well as 492 ft/lb (667 Nm) of torque.

No word on the suspension yet, but the car sports an aggressive fixed aero package made of carbon fiber that produces more than 2645 lbs. of downforce once you really get going. Brakes are "carbon/carbon featuring 6 piston calipers front and rear." The tires are slicks from Michelin.

Brabham expects you to be quick with your roughly $1.5 million, since they will only build 70 BT62s "to celebrate the seventy years since Sir Jack Brabham launched his racing career in Australia in 1948 and the birth of Brabham Automotive in 2018."

The first 35 cars will be liveried in tribute to each of Brabham’s thirty-five Formula 1 Grand Prix victories, while all owners of the Brabham BT62 will join a tailored driver development and experience program on various tracks.

First deliveries could begin late this year.
