Mercedes Fast-ifies the GLC Coupe With 362 Horsepower

From Road & Track

When Mercedes debuted the AMG GLC43 SUV earlier this year, we said it was a result of the automaker's quest to offer AMG versions of everything in its lineup. That quest continues with this, the AMG GLC43 Coupe, which makes its debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month.

Basically, what we have here is the GLC43 SUV with a fastback roofline, which earns it the "Coupe" moniker. It uses a twin-turbo V6 which produces 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque, mated to Mercedes' excellent nine-speed auto. Power is sent to all four wheels with a torque split of 69% rear, 31% front.

The GLC43 also uses an AMG-tuned sport suspension based on Mercedes' Air Body Control, which allows drivers to choose how hard or soft they want their setup to be. Mercedes hasn't released performance specs yet, but expect something similar to the GLC43 SUV's 0-60 run of 4.8 seconds and 155 mph top speed.

Yes, the GLC Coupe is a bit of an oddball, but as we found when we drove the GLC300 Coupe earlier this summer, it's surprisingly fun too. More power and a sporty suspension setup should make the GLC43 a good laugh.
