Mercedes Lavishes with 2017 Maybach S650 Convertible at Los Angeles Auto Show

Mercedes-Benz this week gave the press a glimpse of its first elegant, ultra-high-end Maybach convertible that will premiere at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet will be priced in the 300,000 euro ($323,000) range, according to news reports. Only 75 of the 300 global production run will be available to consumers in the U.S. market.

The upscale Mercedes-Maybach Cabriolet is based on the open-top S-Class and is offered in three color treatments: Zircon Red exterior with Porcelain and Black interior; Cote D’Azur Blue exterior with Porcelain and Saddle Brown interior; and a Diamond White exterior with Porcelain and Yacht Blue interior. Seats are handcrafted perforated leather with diamond-quilted bolsters and interior trim elements are done in a fine wood veneer.

Power for the high-end 4-seat convertible is generated by a 6.0-liter, V-12 bi-turbo engine that makes 621 horsepower and 738 lb.-ft. of torque when partnered with a Mercedes-developed unique 7-speed automatic transmission. The upscale convertible also boasts a top speed of 155 mph, the company says. The new Maybach S650 Cab features a Mercedes Airmatic suspension with variable damping control.

Mercedes-Maybach exclusive features include a new front bumper with chrome headlights and a Maybach emblem on the car’s fender. The ultra-premium German convertible rides on 20-in. Maybach forged wheels with a unique design and bi-chromatic finish.

Maybach logos are projected on the floor of the cabin with special entrance lighting when doors are opened. An inlaid Maybach logo also adorns the convertible top compartment. Other luxury details include deep-pile floor mats, chrome-plated "1 of 300” production count on the cupholder, and a steering wheel that features Maybach lettering on the lower bezel. Even elegant travel luggage that is color-coordinated with each car is part of the premium convertible’s standard equipment and includes travel and lifestyle bags in leather that can be secured to each other with straps.
