A Modified Mitsubishi Evo Makes Going Fast So Easy

From Road & Track

The Mitsubishi Evo is on its U.S. farewell tour-the current generation is ending production, and Mitsubishi has no plans to replace its Subaru-beater. As sad as that is, all you can do now is get a good one while there are still stock examples in one piece, and then try not to mess up Mitsubishi's brilliant drivetrain with your upgrades.

Scott was smart about his tuning, going to Road Race Engineering to end up with 325 wheel horsepower, 314 lb.-ft. of torque, and an exhaust that's nice and loud without being completely illegal in his home state of California. Since Evos have great steering, lots of grip, strong (five-speed) shifters and decent enough brakes to begin with, all it took was a lowering kit, some more aggressive brake pads and sticky Michelins to turn Scott's ride into a competitive autocrosser and canyon carver.
