More Cars Need Sequential Gearboxes
The Lotus Exige is one of the finest track cars you can buy today. And I'm not just saying that because I've read that on the internet. When I drove the Exige Cup 430 last year, I thought it was one of the most capable and fun track cars I had ever driven.
One thing I never thought of was replacing the gearbox with a seven-speed sequential. But after seeing this video of an Exige Cup 380 at Monza, it's all I can think of.
This car, which, admittedly could be driven harder, sounds amazing. There's also nothing more satisfying than pulling back on a sequential shifter in a track or race car. It's not like a PDK or a tiptronic, the lever actually feels connected and physical, like it does something. It's a magical experience, if you've never driven a car with one.
But now I need to buy an Exige, put a sequential in it, and shift it all day long.
