There is perhaps no racing circuit in the world as compelling as the Nurburgring. The track's sheer length, its dozens and dozens of corners, and its extensive history make it a legend among enthusiasts. And unlike nearly any other circuit in the world, you can show up and drive it with essentially zero preparation.

We recommend you don't do that.

This deeply detailed 'Ring lap guide comes to us from driving instructor Scott Mansell, founder of Driver61. Guiding you through every inch of the circuit is Adam Christo, a British driver whose Nurburgring resume includes a 24-hour victory in 2016 with Mercedes-AMG and eight VLN wins.

So, you've got an ultra-experienced instructor here. But this isn't some quick breeze through the circuit. This video is nearly three hours long.

As Mansell explains at the start, this video isn't meant to be watched in one hours-long sitting. It's broken down into segments, explaining each individual region of the track in-depth. Watch each section as many times as you need, absorbing more and more details as you get a better understanding of this wonderful, maddening course. Download a helpful track map and worksheet from Driver61 to aid in your learning.

And once you've finished this video? Congratulations. You've just begun a lifetime of continued learning required to master this track.

Of course, understanding the track layout is just a small part of knowing how to master the Nurburgring. SafeIsFast interviewed a handful of Nurburgring race winners to see how variables such as temperature, weather, and traffic affect how you approach the 'Ring, and how one wrong move can end your entire team's race.
