Mount Union performers hit the stage

Mount Union presents ‘Gallathea’

The Department of Performing Arts at University of Mount Union presented "Gallathea" from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, and "Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol" from Nov. 18-21. Written in 1585 by John Lyly, "Gallathea" centers around themes of identity and transition and is set in ancient Greece. The first performance on record was in 1588, when it was performed for Queen Elizabeth I and her court. Mount Union performed an adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" that was written and directed by Kevin P. Kern, associate professor of theatre at Mount Union. It featured Sean Naughton as Ebenezer Scrooge, as the Jack and Madge Peters Visiting Artist for 2021. Also featured were Marissa Scott of Winona and Sally Tausch of Salem.

University of Mount Union’s Purple Raider Marching Band and Raider Steel Band Season Showcase were held Dec. 3. Mount Union holds Christmas Festival

University of Mount Union's Department of Performing Arts held its annual Christmas Festival, "Where the Light Begins," in early December. The event featured performances from Mount Union's Concert Choir and Cantus under the artistic direction of Dr. Grant W. Cook III, Margaret Morgan Ramsey Professor in Music and director of choral activities at Mount Union.
