Some people’s egos are just so large they can’t help but brag, even if that means giving the police additional evidence of their crimes. That seems to be the case with a 20-year-old Mustang driver in Indiana after he boasted to police about hitting 170 mph during a chase once he had been caught.

Before that, police knew he had been going well over 100 mph, reports Fox 59, but he just went ahead and volunteered that information without even being compelled. Now that’s impressively dumb.

The report indicates the chase, which started in Daleville, Indiana on State Road 67 back on March 23, began when a Daleville officer clocked the Mustang going 84 mph in a 55 mph zone. When the officer tried pulling him over, the guy really punched it.

At a certain point, the officer’s superior told him to end the pursuit. The suspect reportedly almost lost control of his pony car several times, plus was blasting down the shoulder and into oncoming traffic in an attempt to get away.
