Yahoo Autos CenturyLink Brings Prism TV to Salt Lake City, Grows in Utah - Analyst Blog
In line with its objective to expand in the Utah region, the third largest wireline service provider in the U.S. CenturyLink Inc. CTL recently announced that its Prism TV services are now available in Salt Lake City and nearby areas. The company is continuously investing in key growth products, which is likely to serve as a major catalyst.
In 2014, CenturyLink had rolled out fiber-based 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) speed of broadband service in the Salt Lake City as well as other neighbouring areas in the Utah Community. Further, the company is planning to provide 1Gbps of broadband speed to nearly 100,000 residential customers over a year.
On May 13, 2015, the company had launched Prism TV in Portland. This service is presently available in Portland while fiber services are being offered in Richmond, Mt. Tabor, Sunnyside, Hawthorne, Belmont, Kerns, Hosford-Abernethy, Creston-Kenilworth, Buckman, Brooklyn, Sellwood-Moreland and Laurelhurst.
CenturyLink’s Prism TV service has been seeing strong response and is expected to compensate for the revenue loss caused by the decline in single-play voice customers. The company is also committed to further expand its Prism TV service in the second half of 2015. As of Mar 2015, Prism TV customers totaled 0.249 million, up 25.1% year over year. In the reported quarter, CenturyLink added 7,000 Prism TV subscribers.
We believe Prism TV will not only help the company to counter higher churn rates but will also drive revenues in the coming quarters.
Recently, CenturyLink announced the availability of 1 Gbps (gigabit per second) fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) connections in 17 states to provide symmetrical gigabit services to nearly 490,000 small and mid-sized (SMB) business locations. In addition to providing 1 Gbps FTTP link, CenturyLink will also offer managed firewall, colocation and cloud services for both single-site and multi-site SMBs.
