A. Kahn Design Set To Join The World Of Coachbuilding With New Bespoke Cars

British tuner A. Kahn Design, a company renowned for its expertise in building bespoke Land Rover SUVs, is about to expand its business with a new coachbuilding service. A. Kahn Design is teaming up with Ant Anstead, the founder of Evanta Motor Company, a builder of modern sports cars inspired by Britain’s classics, to form the service which will be known as Ant-Kahn.

Ant-Kahn’s first model will be a ‘long-nose’ version of the iconic Land Rover Defender called the Flying Huntsman, due for a debut in the next two months. Designers have added about 15 inches in front of the windscreen to allow a V-8, a 6.2-liter LS3 from GM, to be dropped in. The engine, mounted close to the firewall, will be tuned to deliver 550 horsepower and drive all four wheels via a six-speed automatic.

The Flying Huntsman will be followed later in the year by a new sports car featured in the rendering above and whose design is said to resemble an open-top version of the classic Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato from the 1960s. The sports car will also feature the LS3 V-8, albeit with less power than the Flying Huntsman. The chassis will be based on an Evanta design and the body will be all carbon fiber. A roadster will arrive first and will eventually be joined by a coupe.

Then, in 2015, Ant-Kahn will unveil a third car, believed to be a rebodied version of a modern Aston Martin model. Not much is known about this car but A. Kahn Design founder Afzal Kahn has told Autocar that its styling has been influenced by the Vanquish and will offer the brutal look Kahn considers the regular Aston Martin lineup to be lacking.
