Subaru Viziv 2 Concept: 2014 Geneva Motor Show Live Photos And Video

Subaru unveiled its sequel to last year's Viziv concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, which previews a future crossover to replace the aged Tribeca. Viziv is a word coined by Subaru, and is short for "vision for innovation." It's supposed to represent new styling themes and technologies, as previewed by the two Viziv crossover concepts we've been treated to.

The Viziv 2 maintains the same overall look as its predecessors, albeit with an updated front end that has a familial resemblance to the 2015 Legacy concept unveiled at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show last fall.

In a possible nod to Subaru's rally heritage, there are also prominent LED fog lamps on the front and rear bumpers. Those will probably be the first items to go when the concept's styling is toned down for that upcoming production crossover.

Naturally, the Viziv 2 has an all-wheel-drive system, but it also packs a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.6-liter boxer diesel with CVT, three electric motors, and a lithium-ion battery pack. The diesel and a single electric motor work together to power the front wheels, while the other two motors power the rear wheels. Subaru says the setup allows for torque vectoring-aided control.
