Acquiring one of Caterham’s iconic Seven roadsters in the U.S. is about to become a much simpler process thanks to a new deal signed by the British sports car company and the distribution experts at Superperformance. Starting from the first of this month, Superperformance, based in Irvine, California, will be responsible for local sales of Caterham’s lineup of Seven roadsters and potentially some future offerings such as the production AeroSeven and new motorcycle range.

Superformance says it will stock a range of Seven variants initially, although primarily the higher-power incarnations of the car, which have traditionally been more popular in the American market. The first confirmed models are the Seven 480 and the new Seven 620R.

Sevens will be shipped to the U.S.  in part-built form and sold as rolling chassis via Superformance's nationwide dealer network. Customers will then be able to pick and choose which parts to install on the cars, including engines.

Caterham products have already been available in the U.S. through various avenues. Most recently, the company started selling its SP/300.R track car through Dyson Racing. Superperformance, meanwhile, in addition to being a distributor, is also a licensed manufacturer of some awesome machines including the Ford GT40, Shelby Cobra  and original Corvette Grand Sport.

"The U.S. market has always been a difficult one for us, thanks to the stringent federal homologation rules,” Caterham CEO Graham Macdonald said in a statement. "In the last two years, Caterham has significantly broadened its reach internationally and signing a new official distributor in the form of Superformance in America is a natural extension of how our brand is expanding, rapidly, across the globe."
