‘Top Gear’ Producer Won’t Press Charges Against Jeremy Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson may be out of a job, but at least he won’t face criminal charges. At least, not if “Top Gear” producer Oison Tymon — who Clarkson reportedly physically attacked during an altercation earlier this month — has anything to say about it.

Tymon — whose run-in with “Top Gear” host Clarkson led to Clarkson’s firing from the BBC show this week — has chosen not to press charges against Clarkson, Tymon’s attorney said Friday.

“Mr. Tymon has informed the police that he doesn’t want to press charges,” the producer’s attorney, Paul Daniels, said in a statement. “The events of the past few weeks have been extremely unpleasant to everyone involved. The matter has taken a great toll on Oisin, his family and his friends.”

Daniels added that Tymon is primarily focused on getting back to work.

“Quite simply, Mr. Tymon just wishes to return to the job at the BBC he loves, as soon as possible. Further, the BBC have, in his view, taken action with a view to addressing the issues at hand,” Daniels’ statement reads. “Mr. Tymon agrees with the BBC’s stated view that all parties should now be allowed to move on, so far as possible.”

The BBC announced Wednesday that it wouldn’t be renewing Clarkson’s contract following an investigation into Clarkson’s “fracas” with Tymon. According to the investigation, Clarkson got into a physical and verbal altercation with producer Tymon on March 4.

“During the physical attack Oisin Tymon was struck, resulting in swelling and bleeding to his lip,” the report findings read. “The verbal abuse was sustained over a longer period, both at the time of the physical attack and subsequently.”
