Volvo Trials In-Car Delivery System In Sweden: Video

Anyone who’s away from home during business hours will no doubt know the frustration of having a delivery person turn up at your door with an important package only to find no one at home and thus forced to leave a note requesting that you pick up the package yourself at some busy center.

One solution has been dedicated delivery boxes where your package can be left and later picked up using a one-time code sent to your phone. Of course, this still requires you to go out of your way to receive your package. And then it’s usually only possible for smaller items.

Volvo has come up with a new system that will turn your car into one of these delivery boxes. The system, which is under trial in Volvo’s hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden, provides a delivery person with location information for your car and a code that provides one-time access to it.
