The Next BMW i8 Will Be All-Electric With 750HP, Says a Wild Rumor

From Road & Track

The current BMW i8, shown above, is a plug-in hybrid sports car that pairs a three-cylinder engine with two electric motors to make a combined 357 horsepower. But if the latest rumor is accurate, when the i8 gets redesigned, it will nix the engine, and get a huge boost in power.

Automobile reports that the next-generation i8 will likely come in 2023. When it does finally arrive, though, it will reportedly be all electric, with three motors generating a combined 750 horsepower and a 300-mile range.

While this is still definitely a rumor, it does square with what we've hear before about the next-gen i8. If it's all true, then expect the next i8 will have more than double the horsepower of the original. That sounds like a pretty good idea to us.
