Next-Generation Toyota Supra Finally Spied on Video

From Road & Track

We've known for a while that BMW and Toyota are working together on a new sports car. Beyond that, however, details are few and far between. The latest report says the cars will begin production in 2018, but BMW has already stopped building the Z4 to make room for its version, presumably called the Z5. Toyota, meanwhile, is rumored to be reviving the Supra nameplate for its version.

Earlier this month, we got our first look at a prototype when spy shots of a test car surfaced. Today, fan forum SupraMKV.com did one better, posting a video of an apparent Supra prototype being driven near the Nurburgring.

Unfortunately, while the video gives a better view of the car from different angles, it doesn't give away many clues as to what's under the hood. We've heard it could be an all-wheel-drive performance hybrid like the Acura NSX, but we don't know for sure.

It's also still unclear at this point how similar the BMW and Toyota versions will be. At this point, all we really know is that BMW won't build an M version. Still, the more performance coupes, the better, we say.

Update: Here's another video, this time with footage from the Nurburgring.
