While you’re saving the earth, why not soak up some sun? That is perhaps the rationale behind the Nissan Leaf Open Car, a special creation of Nissan in Japan, designed to celebrate the 100,000th Leaf sold in that country.

We might refer to it as a Leaf convertible or a Leaf targa, except that there’s no evident roof at all. It also appears that the rear doors have been sealed and the back seat has grown in stature, while the rear hatch has been retained. Nissan is tantalizingly short on details for this custom EV, except to say, “There are currently no production plans for the Leaf Open Car.”

That seems like a missed opportunity. We could see the Leaf Open Car as ideal for the grand marshal in a parade-maybe for Earth Day.
