There Are No Off Days for Subaru's American Rally Team

From Road & Track

The highly anticipated Launch Control web series is finally back to cover the 2016 Rally America and RedBull Global Rally Cross seasons for the Subaru racing team. The show is in its fourth season, now covering a total of four racing cars being fielded by Vermont Sports Car. VSC is the shop in charge of building and managing the cars of SRT USA (Subaru Rally Team USA).

While the chassis may be Subaru's, most of the design and development to make them championship-winning race cars is done by a shop in the northeast that goes by Vermont Sports Car. It works with Subaru Tecnica International (or STi, for short) to develop world leading performance and reliability for its stage rally and rallycross cars.

Usually, SRT USA only fields one brand new chassis to race in Rally America. This year, they've added a second car, built to the same exact spec as their primary vehicle. Travis Pastrana, along with his co-driver Christian Edstrom, join legends David Higgins and Craig Drew as the second Subaru-backed team in the Rally America Series. Higgins and Drew had a perfect season last year, winning all eight rallies on the schedule to bring home a perfect season. Now that Pastrana has an equally competitive car, however, it will be interesting to see the rivalry between teammates develop.

Additionally, SRT USA is returning to the RedBull Global Rally Cross series to field two cars. Last season, the teams struggled with development of their new chassis, but this year they're confident the team will succeed. Drivers Bucky Lasek and Sverre Isachsen are extremely skilled, so taking home a championship shouldn't be too difficult.

Launch Control never seems to disappoint, and this season will be no different.
