There seems to be a rule in the automotive world which states all Subaru WRX STIs are meant to be rally cars. It's a stereotype perpetuated by the car's immense motorsport success off the pavement at the hands of people like Colin McRae and David Higgins. But nowadays, Subaru's performance car is more diversified than ever.

Just look at Subaru's performance in the Nurburgring 24 Hours. The team won its class last year in a prepped 2016 WRX STI, and plans on doing it again later this month. It's proof Subarus can hold their own on asphalt as well as the tree-lined stages.

Another example is this 2007 Impreza WRX STI time-attack car. Equipped with some gigantic fender flares, sticky tires, and a massive rear wing, this car was clearly set up to conquer the track-and judging by this video, it seems to be doing just fine.

Watch for yourself as this track monster shoots some flames while dominating the circuit.
