Nothing Stands Out Quite Like a Cadillac Eldorado in South America

From Road & Track

When Scottish geologist Owen Miller moved to South America 22 years ago, he had never owned a car. But that changed when he bought a 1965 Ford Mustang. Instead of sticking with American muscle, though, Miller's automotive passion headed a different direction-huge luxury cars.

Over the next couple years, he bought several of them, including a Buick Riviera and an Oldsmobile Toronado. But at a friend's suggestion, Miller decided he really needed a Cadillac. Finding a Cadillac in Peru proved difficult, however, and he was eventually forced to import a 1973 Cadillac Eldorado convertible. And once he had it in the country, he was hooked.

Even though replacement parts are challenging to find, Miller says he plans to keep the Eldorado as long as he can. That's partly because of how much he enjoys his car, but people on the street love seeing his giant, white, American land yacht, too.

"When I park that car, I turn around and have a good long stare at it," says Miller. "It brightens other people's days, that's the main thing about it."
