Yahoo Autos Now's Your Chance to Own This All-Electric Miata With 120 Miles of Range
We all love the original Mazda Miata thanks to its light weight, peppy nature, and fantastic handling. Although its engine was never the star of the show, someone decided enough was enough, and replaced it altogether. In its place? 29 kWh worth of batteries. And now it's for sale.
This particular car, a 1997 model, lived life as a normal Miata until it was converted to electric power in 2009, according to the Craigslist ad. The LiFePO4 batteries are said to have a 28.8 kWh capacity, which results in a rather impressive 120 miles of claimed range.
The seller also notes the electrified Miata has a top speed of around 75 mph, making highway traffic a breeze. Not mentioned in the ad but seen in pictures are a sweet Hard Dog bolt-in roll-bar and some sort of dash-mounted display monitor, perhaps to give the driver a readout of their energy remaining.
At an asking price of $9,950, if you love the idea of driving around in an open-top electric car, but can't afford a Tesla Roadster, this might just be the EV for you.
